Residents of the Clark-Fulton neighborhood gathered to celebrate the official unveiling of newly refurbished basketball courts at Trent Park.
The project, a collaboration between Ward 14 Councilwoman Jasmin Santana and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Basketball for All initiative, marks the completion of the first phase in a three-part plan to revitalize the park.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony drew neighbors, city officials, nonprofit leaders, and families eager to experience the court’s vibrant transformation. Once an underused space, the courts now feature bold colors and a mural that proudly spells out “Somos Arte” at center court, a nod to the neighborhood’s creative spirit and cultural pride.
Located between West 38th and West 41st Streets and Trent and Newark Avenues, the park sits at the heart of Clark-Fulton, one of Cleveland’s most diverse and densely populated communities. With limited access to green space in the area, the revitalization of Trent Park represents a meaningful step toward environmental justice and equitable access to high-quality public amenities.
Community input played a central role in the court’s redesign. Residents are encouraged to continue shaping the park’s future by completing a short survey at bit.ly/trentpark.
“It’s beautiful to see something our community helped shape come to life,” said one resident at the event. “This is just the beginning.”
